Dr. Kolasinski makes occasional appearances
on the “Let’s
Go Bowling!” radio show,
which is broadcast live via the Internet every Tuesday from 5:00
to 6:00 pm, Eastern Time, on the Tan
Talk Radio Network.

During the 7/25/06 show,
Dr. Kolasinski called in and explained her background and services.
She also
talked about the importance of the mental game, the value of
getting help with the mental game, the 5 Pillars of a Strong
Mental Game, elements of the mental game, and elite performance
in general.
For the 8/15/06 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was an in-studio guest. She talked about her services
and how she
can help bowlers with their mental game, she reviewed the 5
Pillars of a Strong Mental Game, and she talked about the importance
of goal-setting. She spoke with call-in guest USBC Gold Certified
Coach Bill Zuben about the mental game. She also interviewed
call-in guest Denny’s PBA Tour Exempt player Brad Angelo.
Among other topics, Brad talked about the bowling mental game,
elements of his mental game, and the importance of the mental
game at the Denny’s PBA Tour level. He also shared some
of his goals for the 2006-07 Denny’s PBA Tour season.
On the 10/17/06 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was an in-studio guest. She talked about the launch
of her website
and also interviewed call-in guest 22-time Denny’s PBA
Tour titlist and PBA Hall of Famer Marshall Holman. In addition
to other topics, Marshall talked about his mental game and
offered advice to young bowlers who are struggling with their
mental game
On the 12/12/06 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was a call-in guest. She talked about the importance
of maintaining focus and controlling thinking while bowling,
and she also talked about the problem-solving and decision-making
aspects of bowling. Elaborating on a comment by fellow call-in
guest USBC Gold Certified Coach Bill Zuben, Dr. Kolasinski also
talked about the “inverted U” relationship between
the optimal level of stress/excitement and performance. She interviewed
call-in guest 2006 World Cup Women’s Champion Diandra Asbaty,
who talked extensively about the bowling mental game. Diandra
explained how she has developed and continues to strengthen her
mental game, and she also explained how she used visualization
as part of her preparation for the World Cup.
On the 1/16/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski called in to provide on-location reporting from
the 2007 GBT Kegel
Classic and to share some thoughts about her experience at
the January Loschetter Tournament. She also talked about the
process of tearing apart and completely reworking one’s
bowling game in order to improve it.
During the 2/20/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was an in-studio guest. She talked about the February
Loschetter Tournament and shared her observation that many players
get frustrated with themselves because they do not know enough
about lane play or equipment adjustments or because they struggle
with mental game issues. To address this, she emphasized the
importance of the life-long learning process, and she offered
encouragement and advice to both youth and adult bowlers. Dr.
Kolasinski also interviewed call-in guest PBA Hall of Famer Johnny
Petraglia. Johnny emphasized the importance of confidence and
shared an experience he had at the Center for Enhanced Performance
(CEP) at the United States Military Academy at West Point that
helped him to better manage his emotions and improve his bowling.
He emphasized the importance of the mental game and commented
on the life-long learning process associated with bowling. He
also shared techniques he has learned from his martial arts training
about how to handle pressure. Dr. Kolasinski, who was an Assistant
Professor of Engineering Psychology at West Point, provided additional
information on the CEP.
During the 3/20/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski called in to provide on-location reporting from
the Denny's World Championship. Relating to the fact that many
players at the tournament were bowling to keep their exemptions
for next season, she talked about the difference between process
and outcome, emphasizing that players must focus primarily on
the process while they are bowling. She also talked about the
importance of knowing yourself and focusing on the present.
For
the 4/24/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was an in-studio guest. She talked about how players
can get help with the mental game through her services and books
by other bowling psychologists. Elaborating on a comment by fellow
call-in guest USBC Gold Certified Coach Bill Zuben, she talked
about the social stigma attached to psychology that might prevent
bowlers from getting the mental game help they need. Dr. Kolasinski
also interviewed call-in guest 5-time Denny’s PBA Tour
titlist Bob Learn Jr. Bob talked about the psychological side
of recovering from and reinventing himself after his departure
from the Tour when it changed to the exempt format. Nicknamed “Mr.
300” because he has more than 60 sanctioned 300 games,
Bob also talked about the mental aspect of the 10th frame when
a player has the front nine, and he shared some mental game advice
for young bowlers.
On the 7/17/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski was an in-studio guest. She talked about her work
as an Elite Performance Consultant and the services she offers,
and she asked call-in guest USBC Gold Certified Coach Bill Zuben
about his mental game performance at the 2007 USBC Senior Masters.
Dr. Kolasinski also interviewed call-in guest 5-time Denny’s
PBA Tour titlist Harry Sullins. Harry talked about the importance
of preparation by using a Pre-Shot Routine and focusing on the
current shot.
During the 10/16/07 show,
Dr. Kolasinski called in and talked about the Loschetter Tournament
and about what it takes to reach a new level of bowling. She
also interviewed
call-in guest USBC Silver Certified Coach Joe Slowinski. Coach
Slowinski talked about mental game issues he has observed in his
work with Malasian and other international bowlers. He also talked
about his seven-step process for the Pre-Shot Routine. |
